Meet Emily

Editor

Emily holds her MFA in creative nonfiction from the University of North Carolina Wilmington where she taught across genres and worked as fiction editor for Ecotone Magazine. Her writing appears in The Normal School, River Teeth Journal, and Moon City Review among others. She currently resides in Brooklyn and spends most of her evenings running around Prospect Park, rock climbing, or binging the latest in queer reality TV.

She is compelled by writing that disturbs as much as it entices, that is poetry on the page yet still contains a sting. Some of her favorite short stories are Vanessa Chan’s “Coronation,” Ariel Chu’s “Jenny and the Squid,” Benjamin Nugent’s “God,” and Carmen Maria Machado’s “The Husband Stitch.” She is currently tearing through K-Ming Chang’s strikingly titled short story collection Gods of Want.
